LeonaLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British musician, singer actor, activist and actress. Her family was raised in the London Borough of Islington and went to Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis became famous when she was awarded the third series on The X Factor 2006 and was awarded a contract of PS1,000,000 from Syco music. The winner's song, an original cover song by Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" reached the top spot for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke an all-time record of 50k digital downloads in 30 minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5 album deal in February 2007. Lewis kept her momentum going with Spirit Her first studio album. It was 10x platinum accredited in the UK. The album was one of the top four albums sold in 2000, as well as one of the top-selling UK albums. Spirit According to Official Charts Company is the record-breaking debut album of the 21st century by a female artist. The top UK single, Bleeding Love, remained at no. 1 . for seven weeks and became the best-selling album of 2007, as per the Official Charts Corporation. The track was also among the top-selling in 2008 and Lewis earned an award for her work, the Billboard Award for the Best New Artist. Echo is her second studio album. Lewis also composed the hit song "I See You" on behalf of Avatar. In the year 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" which was a collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii, and her first extended performance, Hurt: The EP. The release of her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), brought a brand new direction to her music for Lewis, drawing the inspiration of dubstep and electronic music. Her Glassheart Tour was in the mid-year of 2013, and she began to record material to record her first Christmas album. The Christmas album, with Love was released in late 2013. Its lead single One More Sleep came in at the number three spot on the charts in the UK. The chart's entry made Lewis to be the first British independent female musician to achieve the top fivespot, with eight singles. Also, she broke the record of Olivia Newton-John's seven.
